After
completing its commercial service in Fiji Airlines, this Dakota was used for
years in New Zealand to top-dress agricultural land with superphosphate fertiliser.
The use of superphosphates has been linked to many serious health conditions,
such as mental impairment and cancer. This aircraft was capable of carrying
six tonnes of the fertiliser per flight. Finally the plane was sold to a private
firm where it now serves as a 'cookie restaurant', located between Wellington
and Lake Taupo.
