The Government was last night accused of delaying a report into the effects of water fluoridation on bottle-fed babies. Newborns who are fed formula prepared with tap water are receiving three times the fluoride limit recommended by the British Medical Association, while a three-month old child receives up to six times the limit, according to Senator Doyle.

MONSANTO FACES LAWSUIT

The American drugs company Monsanto is facing a multi-million dollar lawsuit from the inhabitants of a small town who are accusing the firm of contaminating local rivers and poisoning the town's inhabitants. More than 3,500 members of Anniston, Alabama, a poor rural town about 40 miles (65 kilometres) east of the state capital Birmingham, claim that local rivers were polluted with the now banned industrial coolants PCBs and that state regulators helped cover up the damage.
