THEY WHO PAYS THE PIPER...
A meta-analysis (review) of the results of research
to date on the safety of the artificial sweetener aspartame has produced
some interesting findings. Of the 166 studies judged relevant to human
health:

74 were funded by the Industry, 92 were independently funded

Whereas 100% of the industry-funded studies could find no evidence of any danger whatsoever, 92% of the independently funded studies identified dangers

A bibliography supplied by the aspartame manufacturer Nutrasweet included many studies of questionable validity and relevance, and mentioned several studies up to six times
