The
body is slowly and painfully dying from poisons exceeding its capacity to
detoxify. The evidence abounds in the scientific literature, but is being
ignored and wrongly interpreted as 'the body attacking itself.' This is
the greatest blunder of modern medicine. There is hope, a future without
pain, and an economical path that can change your life and put you back
in control. Donna Fezler, Reversing Auto-immune Disorders www.rhealiving.com
A 'Moyers
Report' exposing workplace, environmental poisoning by US chemical industry.
This conduct on the part of the US chemical industrywhich is
supported by the bulk of the political establishment and is rarely challenged
in the mediais one of the clearest demonstrations ofthe socially destructive
implications of a society organized according to the principle of private
ownership
it exposes the stunted nature of democracy in America, where
multibillion-dollar companies have the democratic right to poison
and kill thousands of citizens. Kate Randall on PBS TV's "Trade
Secrets: " 6 April 2001
Corporate
Interests Dominate the System Corporate interests control much of
the science, public debate and politics over how government regulates pesticides.
At the most fundamental level, the federal regulatory system is driven by
the economic imperatives of the chemical manufacturers to expand markets
and profits and not by its mandate to protect public health.
Dan Fagin and Marianne Lavelle, authors of Toxic Deception: How the Chemical
Industry Manipulates Science, Bends the Law, and Endangers Your Health.
Twelve
of the leading chemical companies contributed over $7 million from 1979-1995
to Congressional campaigns. From 1979-1994, Monsanto and Dow, two of the leading
chemical producers on the planet, gave $42.5 million to foundations and universities,
much of it to research pesticides. An analysis of health studies performed
on four chemicals between 1989-1995 (atrazine, alachlor, formaldahyde and
percloroethylene) found this astonishing fact: Of the 43 studies funded by
industry or corporations, 74% indicated that the chemical was safe. Of the
118 studies funded by non-industry scientists, only 27% showed favourable
results. Excerpted from 'Reducing Pesticide Use in Schools, An Organizing

Environmental
Toxins Linked to Alzheimer's, Parkinson's Diseases At the American Academy
of Neurology's 52nd Annual Meeting, held last week in San Diego, researchers
presented compelling evidence that environmental toxins can permanently alter
nervous system function. The studies provide further evidence that some neurological
disorders, long associated with the aging process, may have more to do with
a person's work or leisure history than with a person's age. Cat Lazaroff,

Toxins
are in most Americans' blood, study finds Levels of toxic metals, pesticides
and plastics can be found in the blood and urine of most Americans, the first
national study of environmental toxins reveals. This report should serve
as a wake-up call, said John Balbus, director of the Center for Risk
Science and Public Health. It is the first time the government has made
an inquiry into the level of contaminants in human bodies, and the public
has the right to know this. Released by the U.S. Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, the study reviewed 27 chemicals found in a general
sample of 5,000 men, women and children. Twenty-four of the chemicals examined
in the study had not been systematically measured previously. Scientists estimate
that there are 80,000 industrial chemicals in commerce. Margot Higgins,
